Kernersville 4th of July Parade

2025 Parade Basics:

• • Parade begins at 9:00 a.m. at Kernersville Elementary School (512 W. Mountain Street)
  • Parade ends at Pinnacle Bank (211 Broad Street)
  • Due to the Rotary Club of Kernersville 4th of July 5K immediately prior to the parade, street closures may be in place as early as 6:30 a.m.

Participant Info:

• • Parade Participant Line Up Begins at 7:00 a.m. at Kernersville Elementary School
  • Participation is free and there is no application process. Simply show up on the 4th and participate.
  • The ONLY access to the parade participant line up area is via W. Bodenhamer St. to Nelson St. to School St. Parade participants WILL NOT be allowed to access the line up area via W. Mountain St. (see map in next graphic).
  • There are NO PARKING areas available for parade participants at Kernersville Elementary during staging for the parade. No vehicles are allowed beyond the intersection of Nelson St. and Dobson St. unless the vehicle will be participating in the parade.

Group Participation Info:

• • We welcome group (club, church, sports teams, etc.) participation in the parade. However, there are no areas available at Kernersville Elementary for groups to gather prior to entering the parade staging area. We suggest assembling your group at an area outside the parade staging area and proceeding to the parade line up together.
  • Vehicles are placed in the parade line-up in the order that they arrive at the parade staging area, with no exceptions. There is no space available in the parade staging area for group vehicles to wait for other group vehicles to arrive. If your group involves multiple vehicles, you must assemble all of your group’s vehicles outside the parade staging area and proceed to the parade line up together, in the order you wish for your vehicles to participate in the parade.
  • Individuals participating with your group who arrive after your group enters the parade lineup will have to join your group by walking from the start of the line up area to your group’s location in line.

Participant Rules:

• • For the safety of spectators and participants, NO CANDY OR OTHER ITEMS MAY BE THROWN FROM VEHICLES. Participants walking beside a vehicle may hand out candy or other items to spectators.
  • For health and safety reasons, Horses are NOT allowed in the parade.
  • The Kernersville 4th of July Parade is intended to be a family-friendly event. As such, DANGEROUS, LEWD AND/OR VULGAR BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Any parade participant or group exhibiting behavior that violates standards of reasonable public behavior or creates a risk of harm to spectators, in the sole discretion of the Parade Director or his/her designee, is subject to immediate removal from the parade.

Spectator Rules:

• • Viewing areas along the sidewalk of Mountain St. are on first-come-first serve basis. Please respect the private property of property owners along the parade route.
  • Due to parade staging needs, there is NO PARKING available for parade spectators at Kernersville Elementary.
  • For the safety of spectators small children must be closely supervised by an adult. Please do not allow children to run into the street to retrieve candy or other objects.
  • Dogs must be on a leash and must be supervised by their owners.
  • The sale of items from vendors travelling the streets along the parade route is strictly prohibited. The sale of concessions or other items on private property along the parade route requires the consent of the property owner.
  • The parade is intended to be a family-friendly event. As such, DANGEROUS, LEWD AND/OR VULGAR BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Any parade spectator exhibiting behavior violating standards of reasonable public behavior or creating a risk of harm to participants or other spectators may be asked to leaving the viewing area.

2025 Kernersville 4th of July Run

In 1997, we began an annual 4th of July 5K Run that precedes the 4th of July Parade. The route follows the parade route through downtown, so participants get a chance to run before a large, cheering crowd. Thanks to generous sponsors as well as entry fees, this is one of our club’s largest fundraisers of the year.  Proceeds go to support the many projects our club manages to benefit the local community.

Since 1990, the Rotary Club of Kernersville has managed the Kernersville July 4th Parade through downtown Kernersville.  Veterans lead the parade and are given special recognition. There are a wide range of parade entries and attendance is high among participants and parade-goers alike.
